There are so many events to celebrate throughout the year. Birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, and more all call for a festivity. Luckily, many of the city’s restaurants offer special private event spaces that can host any kind of event. Here are some of our favourites.

Alder: Capacity: 14 to 50 guests

FLOW and FORM are the private spaces inside Alder, and they can hold 14 and 30 seated guests, respectively, with the latter also boasting a capacity of 50 for standing guests. Each room overlooks St. Andrew’s Park and offers the chance to enjoy renowned chef Patrick Kriss’ creations.

Akira Back: Capacity: 20

One of the city’s most celebrated establishment offers a chic private dining space with a massive table to enjoy the mouthwatering fare. It’s located right across from the chic, photo-worthy staircase.

AP: Capacity: 28

Enjoy some of the most spectacular views in the city at Antonio Park’s stunning restaurant, where the private dining room faces north and offers a stunning sight to enjoy some of the city’s most unique Pan-Asian fusion fare.

Bar XXX: Capacity: 16 seated, 20 standing

For fans of unique cocktails, Bar XXX provides one of the most unique experiences in the city. Tucked beneath Little Sister restaurant, the speakeasy-style bar serves up an extensive list of one-of-a-kind libations in a cool, European setting.

Black & Blue: Capacity: 16 to 32 guests seated

The Gold Room accommodates 16 guests and the King Room seats up to 32 at this restaurant known for its wagyu beef certification. Its menu features prime cuts like Japanese A5 Wagyu and USDA Prime alongside flavourful seafood and offers an upscale, elegant vibe.

Canoe: Capacity: 30 to 54 seated guests

The two private rooms. inside Canoe can be combined to accommodate up to 54 people, but can also be used separately. Complimentary services for each of the spaces include personalized menus at each place setting, table numbers, podium, an AV screen and validated parking on weekday evenings. 

Cluny Bistro & Boulangerie: Capacity: 32 to 48 guests

This private dining room inside the Distillery District’s Cluny can be divided into two smaller rooms for an even more intimate experience. It offers the ability to remove all of the furniture for a personalized setting,  floor-to-ceiling windows, and a dedicated seasonal patio area for each room. 

DASHA: Capacity: 30 seated guests

Enjoy a private dining experience on the stunning mezzanine overlooking the main dining room inside Dasha or in the picturesque chandelier room. For a side of entertainment, guests can move into one of the restaurant’s karaoke rooms post-meal.

George Restaurant: Capacity: 120 attendees

Parties from five to 120 people can be held at one of the city’s most iconic restaurants that’s almost become known for its private dining spaces. Each room is designed with a specific function is mind, ensuring every special day runs smoothly.

Gusto 101: Capacity: 20

The wine cellar/microwinery at Janet Zuccarini’s Portland eatery also serves as a private dining space, with the barrels aging the in-house Gusto 101 Reserva acting with both form and function. It’s also equipped with audiovisual capabilities. 

Hong Shing: Capacity: 25 seated, 40 standing

The VIP Room inside Hong Shing is nothing if not sleek: it’s outfitted with cool wallpaper, neon signs, and a dedicated space for a DJ. Family-style menus are served inside the space and encourage good vibes only.

Kasa Moto: Capacity: 75 guests

The thoughtfully designed penthouse space, Bar Moto, offers gorgeous views of the city, a full-service bar, and a bright and airy vibe that’s sure to stun visitors.

Leña Restaurante: Capacity: 40 seated people

Enjoy South American flavours in a versatile space that can offer both family-style feasts as well as plated meal service. The centrally located venue is perfect for any kind of occasion.

Maison Selby: Capacity: 12 to 35 guests

There are four rooms to choose from at Maison Selby, each with historical significance and a dedicated theme. Sous Sol is the speakeasy-style space beneath the historic home, which also boasts L’Orangerie, which has wraparound windows and lush greenery, The Rose Room and The Parlour.

Margo: Capacity: 20 seated guests

The restaurant inside Clio is nothing if not Instagram-worthy. The 20-person private dining area is the perfect spot to celebrate a loved one and enjoy some fresh, tasty Mediterranean cuisine.

Minami: Capacity: 35

The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2021 Americas Winner has the ability to host a chic private party, and certainly has no shortage of style. The modern decor perfectly complements the full-bodied Asian flavours. 

Sassafraz: Capacity: 72 seated guests

This Yorkville gem also contains one of the most glamorous private dining spaces in the city. It has breathtaking frosted glass floor-to-ceiling windows, loft ceilings, and a mobile bar, and is equipped with televisions and a cordless mic. 

The Sultan’s Tent & Café Moroc: Capacity: 14 to 30 guests

One of the most unique experiences in the city can accommodate private parties with a side of entertainment. French-Moroccan eats meet belly dancers and other live offerings and can offer both buffet-style eats and a preset menu option.

Trapezi: 32 seated, 55 standing

The team behind Mamakas Taverna opened a 1,000-square foot private dining space above Koukla inside a heritage building. It has a dedicated event planner and offers stunning views of the west end.

Woods Restaurant: Capacity: 18 seated guests

Exposed brick, wooden beams and open ceilings present a stunning, photo-worthy backdrop inside this east-end eatery. The menu is locally-sourced and Canadian inspired to complement the chic, modern space.
