Our Year in Review is our annual celebration of the year in film and it arrives on January 8, 2025. It has two exciting parts: a personalized summary, containing some headline stats based on your 2024 movie-watching journey, and our full community round-up, where we reveal the year’s highest-rated films and other highlights based on collective member activity. It’s the perfect way to reflect on the past year and discover the movies that defined 2024 for our global community.

(Our Pro and Patron members have access to year-round stats, so while there’s no need to wait to find out your most watched, you’ll also receive the personalized summary along with everyone else!)

You need to have logged at least ten films during 2024 to receive a personalized summary on January 8. Here’s how to ensure your Diary, ratings, and stats are in tip-top shape before the year wraps up.

Why Ratings and Likes Matter

Your star ratings cast throughout the year (up to midnight Pacific on December 31, 2024) shape our final community rankings, but if you prefer not to rate, a ‘like’ (via the heart icon) also boosts a film’s popularity score. Take a moment to ensure your ratings and likes reflect your true feelings about the films you’ve seen in 2024.

Watched vs. Logged

Every rating you cast contributes to our community’s collective rankings, but only films you log count toward your personal summary for the year. Logging a film means recording the date you watched it in your Diary, whereas marking it ‘watched’ or rating it directly doesn’t store a diary date (this facility is provided in case you need to backfill a large number of watched films that you have no dates for). Never logged a movie but meant to? No worries! There’s a fix detailed below.
