With winter fast approaching, Airbnb has just revealed its 2024 Winter Travel Report — and three Quebec tourist destinations have made the list of trending Canadian winter hotspots.

The best part? They’re all under a two-hour drive from Montreal, making them ideal for a quick winter getaway.

Airbnb analyzed search data from U.S. travellers planning stays between November 1 and December 31, 2024, and compared the growth to the same period in 2023. When it comes to trending family international destinations, Mont-Tremblant made the cut.

This is no surprise given Mont-Tremblant’s status as one of Canada’s premier winter resorts, offering world-class skiing, a charming pedestrian village, and plenty of après-ski fun. At just an hour and forty-five minutes from Montreal, it’s a no-brainer for both locals and tourists alike.

Other Canadian destinations grabbing the attention of U.S. travellers include Vancouver and Whistler, with Airbnb noting that skiing remains a winter staple.

But it’s not just Americans flocking to the slopes. Canadians, too, are looking to hit the powder.

According to Airbnb’s search data from Canadian travelers, here are some of the trending winter destinations across the country:

  • Blue Mountain, Ontario
  • Trois-Rivières, Québec
  • Kamloops, British Columbia
  • Edmonton, Alberta
  • Orford, Quebec
  • Toronto, Ontario
  • North Bay, Ontario
  • Mont-Tremblant, Québec
  • Vancouver, British Columbia

As you can see, in addition to Mont-Tremblant, Orford and Trois-Rivières have also made the list of trending destinations.

Orford, just over an hour from Montreal in the Eastern Townships, is a known haven for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly with its proximity to Mont Orford National Park where skiing, snowshoeing, and cozy cabins are available to visitors in a picturesque setting.

Trois-Rivières, located about an hour and a half from Montreal, has been dubbed Canada’s “cultural capital” and its historic charm is all the more enchanting in the winter months when the small city comes alive with ice skating, holiday markets, and stunning snowy landscapes.

So, if you’re looking for an unforgettable winter escape, you clearly don’t need to leave the province — although Airbnb reservations may be tough to snag at this point.

But if you are craving something a little further afield, Canadians are showing serious interest in travelling to these destinations this winter: Japan, Guadeloupe, El Salvador, Peru, Morocco, Austria, Guatemala, Thailand, Italy and France.

Interestingly, the U.S. didn’t make the list of trending international destinations for Canadians this year, as more travellers opt for adventures in South America, Central America, Asia, and Europe instead.

Where will you go on your winter vacation?
