  • The Landing Hotel Portsmouth, a $65 million privately funded development, will break ground this summer.
  • The new hotel, which is slated to open in early 2027, is expected to create around 200 temporary construction jobs and 60 permanent positions.

Rivers Casino Portsmouth, in collaboration with Rush Street Gaming, has announced the groundbreaking for a new hotel, The Landing Hotel Portsmouth, which is expected to take place this summer. The announcement was made during the annual Portsmouth State of the City meeting, which highlighted the city’s ongoing economic development.

The new hotel is a privately funded $65 million project. The development is estimated to create approximately 200 temporary construction jobs and 60 new permanent roles at Rivers Casino Portsmouth. In addition to the potential increase in hospitality tax revenue for the City of Portsmouth, the hotel is anticipated to stimulate local commerce and increase gaming, restaurant, conference, and event revenues by encouraging weekend and overnight visits to the area.

The Landing Hotel Portsmouth, scheduled to open in early 2027, will be an upscale eight-story establishment adjacent to Rivers Casino Portsmouth. The hotel will feature 106 guest rooms, including 32 suites and two ‘super suites’ that offer indoor and outdoor spaces. Room sizes will range from approximately 400 square feet to over 800 square feet.

The hotel will also house a sophisticated lobby bar near the reception area, two private executive board rooms, and other amenities. The hotel will offer immediate access to The Event Center at Rivers Casino via a dedicated covered corridor with eight on-site restaurants and lounges.

KOO Architecture & Interiors of Chicago is providing the hotel’s architectural design. It is a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE), and Disabled Business Enterprise (DBE) and a member of the U.S. Green Building Council.

Rivers Casino and Rush Street Gaming will independently own and operate The Landing Hotel Portsmouth. The two companies also own and operate The Landing Hotel in Pittsburgh, Schenectady, and Riversuites in Philadelphia.
