National Coffee Day is on September 29th and what better way to celebrate the day than by supporting your local brewsters? The city is filled with coffee shops – you’ll pretty much find one on every corner. We’ve decided to create a short but mighty list of local cafes you probably have yet to discover. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find your go-to spot.

Boxcar Social Laneway

Inspired by the Japanese audiophile scene, this laneway cafe serves as an escape from the busy lives we live.

You can find Boxcar Social Laneway tucked away at the end of an alley, west of Bathurst St. and College St. Compared to the other Boxcar locations, this spot is a different concept as it’s described a “slower, more intimate space inspired by Japanese listening bars.”

Where: End of an alleyway, 298 Markham St

Capulus Coffee House

Not just a simple cafe! Capulus Coffee House is your one-stop shop for baked goods, cafe eats, nutritious smoothies and cafe creations.

Where: 881 St. Clair Ave West

Emily Rose Cafe

Home away from home! If you’re seeking comfort in a cup, Emily Rose Cafe is a great option.

Where: 721 Palmerston Ave

Found Coffee

Toronto’s very own Australian coffee house has two locations, one on College Street and the other across from Trinity Bellwoods Park.

The College location easily has one of the most gorgeous back patios of any cafe in the city, complete with exposed brick, twinkling lights, and comfy seating options.

The adorable Bellwoods location has seating in front of the window where you can face the park.

Where: 324 College Street & 189 Shaw Street

First & Last Coffee Shop

“Your neighbourhood caffeination station.” And that it is!

First & Last Coffee Shop is small, cozy, and will truly be the best part of your day. With baked goods and delicious creations, can you go wrong? No, no you can’t.

Where: 346 Dupont St

Rooms Coffee | 915 Dupont

Cafe by day, listening bar, and lounge by night. 915 Dupont is not only a chill hub serving Japanese whisky and cocktails, it also serves Rooms Coffee from 9 AM to 5 PM.

It’s not necessarily an easy cafe to spot as it’s located on Dupont, right across from a Public Storage and beside a photography studio. But once you find it and step foot inside, you’ll be glad you did.

Where: 915 Dupont St, Toronto, ON

Slanted Door

Along with aromatic brews, if art is something that sells you on a coffee run, head to Slanted Door. This local cafe has combined the joys of an art gallery and the comfort of a hot cup of coffee and created a cozy atmosphere for lovers of both crafts.

Where: 442 Bloor St W
