Iron Maiden delivered a bold move that fans didn’t anticipate.

As the metal icon kicked off the 2026 leg of the Run For Your Lives World Tour in Athens, Greece, the six-member band performed a string of hits from their classic and signature tracks.

Marking their first performance for their comeback tour, Iron Maiden went all out, opening the event with the song “Murders in the Rue Morgue,” a track from their chart-topping album Killers.

Amid the loud cheers and roars from concertgoers, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee surprised fans with a rare performance of “Infinite Dreams.”

It was a single that Iron Maiden never really got to perform often due to the song’s complicated structure and demanding vocal passages.

Before the set, Dickinson announced they would be performing “something different” for their European fans. “We couldn’t think of a better place in Europe to start this tour. We know a few of you have seen some of this show before,” the frontman said, as cited by Loudwire, adding, “We thought we’d just do a little bit of something different, just for this next song. Because it’s a song that we have not played for many, many years. No, it’s not ‘Alexander the Great.’ But it will be when you go to bed tonight, your ‘Infinite Dreams.’”

Iron Maiden last performed the song live on December 12, 1988, during their concert at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, England.

The show marked the last day of their Seventh Tour of a Seventh Tour in support of their seventh studio album, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.

As for their ongoing tour, the band was joined by the iconic thrash metal band Anthrax as their special guest performer and opening act.
