Ahead of the highly anticipated farewell tour, legendary ‘80s rocker Jonathan Cain delighted fans with exciting news.
The 75-year-old musician is not only giving his supporters a string of remarkable shows for the Final Frontier Farewell Tour, but also with a new solo single.
In an Instagram update, Cain shared an early drop of “Only A Prayer Away,” a melodic spiritual song for anyone seeking renewal, comfort and hope amid a difficult time.
According to him, he released it days before the scheduled launch and currently available to stream on multiple platforms.
“The wait is finally over And the good news? We dropped it TWO DAYS EARLY. ‘Only A Prayer Away’ is now streaming on ALL platforms. My prayer is that this song encourages you, lifts you, and reminds you that God is closer than you think. If it speaks to you, share it with someone who needs hope today,” the caption reads.
The post received overwhelming admiration from fans who celebrated his timeless voice and heartfelt delivery.
“Jonathan has a great singing voice,” one wrote.
“Love it! Great outro transition!! Feeling it!” a commenter said.
For the singer-songwriter, he wants “Only a Prayer Away” to be a song to comfort and inspire people, as well as encourage listeners to seek healing of the mind and heart.
“This song is for anyone who’s been tired, overwhelmed, or searching for hope,” he said, as mentioned by Blabbermouth. “If you’ve been feeling crushed lately, carrying pain nobody sees, need healing in your heart, your mind, your home — Jesus is closer than you think. He’s not ignoring you. He’s only a prayer away.”
The release of Cain’s new song came weeks ahead of the start of Journey’s farewell tour.
During his appearance onThe 700 Club Asia, Cain said he wanted a “proper farewell” to say goodbye to fans who had supported him during his time in Journey.
“It’s time for me, at my age. I wanna live my life, you know, and the road just is so consuming and it just seems like a good time to get off, for me,” he shared.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer is scheduled to embark on his multi-city North American tour, which will kick off on Feb. 28 in Pennsylvania with stops including Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., Vancouver, Atlantic City and more.
Joining Cain are band members Neal Schon on lead guitar, Arnel Pineda on lead vocals, Deen Castronovo on drums and vocals, Todd Jensen on bass and Jason Derlatka on keyboards and vocals.
