Bath & Body Works is the name in accessible fragrance and body care products. They sell such a wide range of items, from lotions you can afford as a teen to luxury-esque perfumes that are self-care must-haves. And that’s absolutely why they continue to be a favorite for the average person who also just so happens to love fragrance mists. With such a massive following, and their tradition of dropping fragrances they then retire, every BBW customer is bound to have their favorite Bath & Body Works retired scents.

Currently, Bath & Body Works has 285 fragrances available on their website; not all of them are available in-store or in a range of products or fragrance mists, but that’s still a very impressive list. Now imagine how many scents they’ve released and either retired or discontinued since they opened in 1990. Again, that means you might have bought a limited edition fragrance and now can’t buy it in stores. As a Twilight Woods girlie, trust me, I know the feeling. And so does fragrance influencer Paul Fino.

“As someone who’s been a fan of the company for over 15 years, I feel like I’ve had my fair share of favorable retired gems!” he says.

Fino, who has 2.1 million followers on TikTok, tells Parade that in your quest for a retired fragrance, you may want to first look at BBW’s “Online Exclusives” section to see if your fave is sold on their site and just not in the stores. He says this can “typically [mean] it’s a retired/discontinued scent.”

They also bring back lots of retired fragrances during their Semi-Annual Sales, so the chances are high that you’ll get your hands on your long-lost love. However, that’s not always the case. So below, Fino not only shares some of the most popular Bath & Body Works retired scents, but also where else to find them online if you need that nostalgia kick ASAP.

9 Popular Bath & Body Works Retired Scents

The first retired scent Fino shares is Be Enchanted. Fragrantica reported this has fragrance notes that include passionfruit, vanilla, citruses, musk and sandalwood. One commenter mentioned that the bottle said it had notes of “iced pomegranate and sugared petals.”

“[This] launched in 2011 and retired around 2014,” Fino tells Parade. “But we’ve seen her come back a few times for the SAS (Semi-Annual Sale).”

So don’t get too discouraged about this one, because you might find it in the next big BBW sale event.

“Easily one of the best Bath & Body Works scents ever created,” Fino enthused in a TikTok video from late 2024.

2. Bali Mango

If you’ve been following Fino online for a hot minute, you’ll know of his affinity for Bali Mango. It’s the first scent he ever purchased from Bath & Body Works and also holds a special place because that memory is linked with his grandmother.

“It’s sweet, juicy, it’s like tangerine, mango, but it’s so beautifully done,” he said in a recent video.

This one has fragrance notes of tangerine, apple, peony, nectarine and more.

“This one is my personal favorite from the brand and I recently just bought another bottle on eBay,” he says. “This got retired back in 2013. It still has an extremely popular online presence. This one we haven’t seen brought back in a while.”

3. Malibu Heat

Fino shares Malibu Heat next, which has top fragrance notes that include pineapple, pear, orange, and heart notes that include coconut water and orange blossom among other things. Parfumo also reported that the base notes include coconut milk, musk, sandalwood and vanilla.

“This summer classic is a fan favorite, with hundreds of blog posts begging to bring this back,” Fino says. “Last summer during the SAS, they had the return of this fruity, creamy coconut goodness.”

4. Forever Red

Forever Red is next, and this one is special because it’s a retired Bath & Body Works scent that was brought back recently. (A success story for the ages for fans of this fragrance!)

“[This] launched in 2012 and as of right now you’re able to pick this one up in-store,” Fino says. “This was a return from the previous Semi-Annual Sale. This one is pomegranate, vanilla and rum. Fingers crossed this one stays!”

In a video from November, Fino said this was a  “woodsy, floral, vanilla perfume.”

5. Forever Red Vanilla Rum

In stark contrast to the Forever Red, Forever Red Vanilla Rum is way more elusive (hence the lack of social media posts about it).

“This is one scent from BBW that once it was retired… we’ve never seen her again,” Fino explains.

Just like the availability, the scent on this one is also different. The fragrance expert says this one has “complex notes” consisting of “jasmine, gardenia, vanilla, cashmere and of course rum.”

“This was a winter hit,” he says.

6. Blush Cardigan

Blush Cardigan is next, and Fino shouts out a popular TikTok account called “Aaliyah Loves Dr Pepper.” The owner of this account is Dr Pepper’s self-proclaimed “#1 fan” and they’re constantly commenting about it on a lot of BodycareTok and PerfumeTok videos, Fino explains.

“Check under basically all of my TikTok videos,” he says.

The reason he calls her out is because Blush Cardigan is “basically made for her.”

“This smells like a fresh cup of Dr Pepper,” Fino shares. “It reminds me of being a kid! You get a fizzy soda and candy-like scent that’s still extremely wearable in my mid-twenties. [It] also gained the most amount of hype simply because of a TikTok saying this smells like Dr Pepper.”

Officially, this scent has fragrance notes that consist of raspberry, sugar, violet and amber, according to Fragrantica. But a fizzy soda smell beats them all.

7. Velvet Sugar

Next is Velvet Sugar, which Fino has talked about in his own videos related to retired BBW scents. He said it “smells like candy.”

“Not only is this a fan favorite, but it’s a personal favorite of mine as well!” Fino tells Parade. “This is so sugary and sweet, but I’ve never smelled anything like it before. There are notes of strawberry and sugar but it deepens with a plum.”

Fino says he doesn’t actually know when this was discontinued—he’s only found it at an outlet location that specializes in retired or discontinued scents—but it’s always at the top of his list.

“When posting [about] retired BBW [scents], this is always the #1 comment with the most likes!” he shares.

8. Sunset Glow

it makes me so sad bc sunset glow slays everytime #like #viral #view #fame #fyp #foryoupage #bbw #bathandbodyworks #views #xyzbca

Not only is Sunset Glow a favorite retired Bath & Body Works scent, but it’s a really good dupe for a popular perfume.

“This was one of the most comparable fragrances that BBW had to Sol De Janeiro’s Cheirosa 62,” Fino explains. “Although, I’ve smelled similar scents at the time of this release and retirement. This was my ultimate favorite SDJ [dupe] and I was so shocked to see this one go away because it still remains their most asked about.”

Per Fragrantica, this one smells like coconut, cherry and moonflower.

9. Pink Chiffon

@princesskookies

i never hear anyone else like the Pink Chiffon scent as much as i do 😔 #bathandbodyworks #bbw #bodymist #pink #collectibles #2000s #2010

And lastly, we have Pink Chiffon. The fragrance notes on this one include pear, vanilla orchid, tiare flower, musk and jasmine, per Fragrantica.

“This is pink, girly and playful,” Fino shares. “It smells like a pink marshmallow with pear and musk—I was so sad to see this one go!”

How To Find Bath & Body Works’ Retired Scents

Now that you have a rundown on some of the most popular retired scents that Bath & Body Works has ever released, where the heck do you even find them? Well as Fino tells us, he’s “shopped retired BBW from the site since [he] was a teenager” so he knows a thing or two.

“I would always recommend checking Bath & Body Works website first because you never know what they’re going to bring back as an online exclusive,” Fino shares.

The fragrance influencer also points out that even if your favorite scent isn’t online now, that doesn’t mean Bath & Body Works won’t bring them back.

“And not to mention, every Semi-Annual Sale, Bath & Body Works will bring back a handful of retired gems,” he says.

As for the truly retired or discontinued fragrances, Fino says that he “lean[s] towards eBay” if he’s “desperate for nostalgia.” As he mentioned above, he recently went this route to get his hands on Bali Mango (though it weirdly came with a sock as cushioning, which he says was “strange,” and we’d agree with him). But if you choose to go with an online seller, make sure you vet them. And prepare to spend a pretty penny on some of the more popular fragrances.

“I only trust sellers with high ratings and good reviews on eBay,” Fino says. “It may not be extremely accessible, but it’s worth it for that nostalgic hit.”

But again, all hope is not lost if you can’t find your favorite retired or discontinued fragrance online and don’t want to splurge on eBay’s prices.

“Twice a year Bath & Body Works brings back retired fan favorites during the Semi-Annual Sale,” Fino reminds us once more. “So if your favorite scent goes missing keep an eye out online and in-store because you never know when it will appear.”
