’90s Rock Band Tease ‘Overdue’ Career First Ahead of 12th Album Release

U.K. fans of the legendary rock band formed in the 1990s, the Foo Fighters, are getting hyped after the group teased appearing at a major music festival that they have never performed at before.

The band sat down for an interview with DJ Sophie K for Kerrang! Radio, and during the conversation, the DJ made a “plea on behalf of everyone who’s ever been to Download Festival. We need you there.”

The Foo Fighters seemed surprised that people wanted them there, with lead singer Dave Grohl questioning, “Really? There’s so many great bands.” But Sophie K made it clear that it’s what the fans want, noting that people in forums are always sharing their hopes that the Foo Fighters will be in the lineup for the next festival, only to be disappointed.

“Everyone is wanting you to play, and I feel like with this new album, just putting it out there, you know?” The DJ went on, referring to the band’s 12th album, Your Favorite Toy, out in April. Grohl looked to the other band members, saying, “Maybe we should do it! … Maybe it’s time.”

The DJ declared that they would be sending the interview along to Download Festival in an effort to get the Foo Fighters booked, with Grohl’s final comment being, “Overdue.”

Fans were ecstatic to see Foo Fighters get the message and share their willingness to attend, with one person commenting on the video, “Been saying this for like 15 years, how on earth have they not played THE UK rock & metal festival???”

Someone else cheered on the DJ for bringing it up to them, writing, “Sophie K making the things happen!!”

Others said that they “Need it to happen,” and “That’s crazy, how have the never played Download,” as a different fan cheered, “YES @iamsophiek I need my favourite band at my favourite festival!!!!!”

Some fans noted that Grohl actually performed at Download Festival in 2010, but it was with another band he’s a part of, Them Crooked Vultures.
