Sarah Michelle Gellar is in Austin, Texas, right now promoting her new film Ready of Not 2: Here I Come. She stars alongside Samara Weaving and Kathryn Newton in a rip-roaring, massive-body-count sequel that made its world premiere at this year’s SXSW.
For yesterday’s screening, the Buffy the Vamire Slayer alum wore a long black lacy slip dress with spaghtetti straps and a plunging neckline. With her hair pulled back loosely, she sported minimal jewelry and a fresh, dewy makeup look. Newton, who posed with her on the carpet, wore a patterned layers max with bold makeup.

Today, Gellar took to social media to deliver some pretty shattering news for Buffy fans. Confirming that the series off-shoot Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale is a no-go with Hulu, she posted a video to Instagram.
“So I am really sad to share this, but I wanted you all to hear it from me,” she starts in the video. “Hulu has decided not to move forward with Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale.”
She continued, “I wanna thank Chloé Zhao. I never thought I would find myself back in Buffy’s stylish yet affordable boots, and thanks to Chloé I was reminded how much I love her and how much she means not only to me, but to all of you, and this doesn’t change any of that.”
She concluded her message with a humorous nod to the series’ supernatural themes.
“I promise if the apocalypse actually comes, you can beep me.”
In other news, Gellar’s sequel is raking in super-postive early reviews.
Following the screening, which left fans gasping, screaming, cheering, and just being the rowdy type SXSW attracts and appreciates, the film, which CBR reported used 325 gallons of fake blood, has appropriately been stamped a “bloody good time.”
Ready or Not: Here I Come hits theaters March 20, 2026.
