IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to introduce the first Turkish location of its Vignette Collection hotel line in Istanbul’s Union Han, Karaköy district. The property, currently owned by Cortex Turizm, will open in the second half of 2025 and will be the 16th IHG hotel in the city.
This addition continues the expansion of IHG’s presence in Turkey, bringing the total number of existing and planned properties to 45. The Vignette Collection, IHG’s luxury conversion brand, is on track to reach 100 hotels worldwide in ten years, contributing to IHG’s extensive luxury and lifestyle portfolio of nearly 900 hotels.
The Vignette Collection model allows property owners to maintain their hotels’ unique identity and character while offering guests distinctive experiences in memorable destinations. In line with this, the Union Han, Istanbul Karaköy property will support local non-profit organizations through the “A Means for Good” initiative.
The new hotel, located in the historic Tütün Han building, will offer 51 guest rooms, an artisan bakery, a specialty food restaurant, and exclusive wellness facilities, including a spa.
Willemijn Geels, Vice President of Development in Europe for IHG Hotels & Resorts, expressed enthusiasm for the brand’s growth since its 2021 launch and credited strong partnerships and dedicated teams for the company’s success in Turkey. Cortex Turizm echoed this sentiment, acknowledging their confidence in IHG’s reputation and guest loyalty programs.
Currently, IHG Hotels & Resorts operates 32 hotels in Turkey and has 13 more in development, including the first Garner hotel near the new International Istanbul Airport and the InterContinental Ankara, both scheduled to open in 2025.
