Toronto’s Yorkville neighbourhood is easily one of the city’s most iconic destinations. Known for its luxury shopping, gourmet dining, and historic Victorian architecture, it’s where sophistication meets charm.
With its cobblestone streets and European-style atmosphere, Yorkville feels like a mini getaway in the heart of the city, especially in the summer, when patios open and the streets buzz with life.
Centrally located and easily accessible by public transit, Yorkville draws in visitors for its high-end boutiques, upscale restaurants, and vibrant arts and culture scene.
There’s lots to do! So if you’re curious about what makes Yorkville such a hotspot, here’s your guide to one of Toronto’s most beloved neighbourhoods.
Shopping
There’s no shortage of shopping destinations in Yorkville, especially if you want to take “treating yourself” to an all-time high. Consider it the destination for luxury, high-end fashion brands — Louis Vuitton, Prada, Cartier, Hermès, Gucci, and more.
Though you will find names like Roots, lululemon, Alo and Arc’teryx in the mix, there are a bunch of local shops to explore.
If you’re looking for jewellery and expensive watches, stop by L’ORO. The shop has been family-owned and operated since 1984.
And for some clothes to match your hardware, Borenta Boutique is a stellar option for men’s suits and wear. For the ladies, a trip to Sarah Pacini is in order. Here you’ll find a unique blend of knitwear, prêt-à porter and accessories.
In need of new jeans? Hit up Over the Rainbow inside the Manulife Centre. It’s been around for over 40 years and is regarded as Toronto’s best store for denim.
Other shops to check out:
- Avec Plaisir for lingerie, hosiery, camisoles, lounge wear, sleep wear, robes, slippers, swimwear and resort wear
- Consignment boutique L’Elegante
- For all your streetwear finds, Kith
Activities
Considering this area is a high-end, upscale neighbourhood, expect to fork over some money, especially if you’re looking for something thrilling to do.
As previously mentioned, the neighbourhood is home to various art galleries and museums. This includes the Royal Ontario Museum, just at the intersection of Avenue Rd and Bloor St W. If you want to save some money, stop by on the third Tuesday of any month. ROM opens its doors, galleries, and exhibitions to the public free of charge.
Another museum to explore is the wonderful Gardiner Museum. If arts and culture are not on your radar and you’re looking for more hands-on fun, head to The Ballroom Bowl. Whether it’s date night, a group of friends or just a family outing, you can’t go wrong with a few rounds of bowling.
Cineplex Varsity Cinemas and VIP is also an option in the neighbourhood, especially for catching the latest flicks.
Other fun activities include:
Where to eat
Now, after all that exploring, you need to eat! Luckily, Toronto is filled (and we mean filled) with the best food options. Since we’re looking at Yorkville, the options include sophisticated establishments and chic bars.
With the weather acting just right, an evening out on the patio hits the spot. Do yourself a favour and book a reservation at Paros Yorkville for a night in the Mediterranean.
For brunch, I love ONE Restaurant, Hazelton’s contemporary Yorkville hotspot. It’s an absolute must.
Also, make sure to check out Sassafraz; it’s been around for YEARS, and even celebrities have made the trip to eat here.
Other must-eats include:
Not really hungry but need a caffeine fix? There are tons of coffee shops around. Here are a few you definitely should check out:
And there you have it! Have fun in Yorkville.
