A dazzling fireworks display is coming to the largest amphitheatre in the Alberta badlands

12 November 20252 Mins Read

Drumheller is known worldwide for its spectacular hoodoo formations, rouge rock canyons, and dinosaur deposits.

But during LightFest, it’s also the site of a breathtaking fireworks show, one that’s worth a visit from across the province.

Hosted in partnership with GlobalFest, this dazzling fireworks display will light up the night sky amongst the hoodoos of the Alberta badlands.

You’ll enjoy music, crafts, a complimentary hot beverage and snack, and the excitement of GlobalFest pyromusical fireworks, all set against a stunning backdrop.

It might even be exciting enough to stir the fossils that sleep in the nearby sediment.

What to expect

The landscape of the Alberta Badlands, located near Drumheller in southern Alberta, is rich with history.

It stretches back to when dinosaurs roamed the earth, and the mushroom-shaped hoodoos that erupt from the ground in the Badlands are a testament to this ancient time.

Pairing this dramatic landscape with an explosive fireworks show seems like the perfect way to celebrate our transition into winter.

It’ll be an unforgettable night of beauty amongst a dizzying array of live music, food and dance.

You can travel to Drum easily by car from Calgary, and it’s only a one-and-a-half-hour drive through the prairies.

Entry to the festival is $6 for children, $12 for youth and $16 for adults, making this a super affordable night on the town.

You’ll also need to pay to park on-site, with a cost of $8 in advance and $10 by cash at the gate.

Celebrate this colourful festival of light in one of the province’s most interesting natural landscapes. It won’t disappoint!

When: Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Where: Badlands Amphitheatre — 605 17th St. SW, Drumheller, Alta.
Tickets: $16
