Strawberry season is just a couple of weeks away in Ontario, and some farms are gearing up for visitors to come pick their own fruit. Berry Hill Farm is about an hour and a half from Toronto, and by the end of June, fresh strawberries will line their fields just waiting to be collected.
The cool part about Berry Hill Farms is that guests can bring their own basket. Yep, you can fill a basket as much as you’d like, you’ll just be charged for the total weight at the end.
The pricing varies depending on the crops you’re picking and the season.
While strawberries are a major hit from Berry Hill Farm, they have u-pick for a massive selection of fruits and vegetables six months out of the year.
The current schedule runs as follows:
- Asparagus: May until the end of June
- Strawberries: End of June until October
- Peas: End of June until end of July
- Raspberries: Early July until August
- Sweet corn: Mid-July until August
- Green and Yellow Beans: Mid-July until October
- Blueberries: End of July until August
- Apples: End of August until October
- Pumpkins: Mid-September until October
This weekend — Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22 — the farm will also be holding a Strawberry Festival. Think strawberry ice cream, strawberry jam, strawberry waffles, wagon rides, vendors, and live music.
Sounds like a day out with the family, or a fun date, is all sorted out. Plus, you get to eat fresh fruit afterwards. It’s a win all around.
