One of the most unique outdoor attractions near Calgary is officially reopening for the season this spring. Granary Road reopens on May 1, 2026, offering a mix of farm animals, large playgrounds, and interactive learning exhibits spread across 36 acres.
It’s one of those spots that’s easy to underestimate, but can quickly turn into a full day of exploring, climbing, and discovering something different at every stop.
About Granary Road
Just a short drive from Calgary in the Foothills County, Granary Road is basically a giant outdoor playground disguised as a farm. Spread across 36 acres, you’ll find interactive exhibits like the Orchard Treehouse with its two-story apple slide, the Ant Farm and Spider web, which you can climb through, and more.
In addition to the interactive playgrounds, there’s a petting zoo where you can meet goats, alpacas, sheep, chickens, and other farm animals. The experience gets even more fun with seasonal activities like baby goat yoga, where you can stretch, relax, and hang out alongside playful goats.
If you need a break from climbing and exploring, the park also has a year-round indoor farmers market where you can check out local vendors, fresh food, and unique finds.
And for something a little more competitive, there’s an 18-hole mini golf course that makes a fun add-on to the day, especially if you’re there with friends or family.
Plan your visit
If you’re planning a visit to Granary Road, it’s located just 10 minutes from South Calgary in Foothills County, making it one of the easiest spring day trips just outside the city. The park officially reopens on May 1, 2026, and tickets can be purchased online in advance.
A Day Pass is priced at $24.75 and includes access to the Outdoor Active Leaning Park, Indoor spaces, and the 18-hole mini golf course, giving you a full experience across the entire property in one visit.
For those planning to return more than once during the season, a Season Pass is also available for $69.95 and gives you unlimited access to the park.
There’s something about Granary Road that makes you forget you’re only minutes from the city. One minute you’re checking out farm animals, the next you’re climbing through giant exhibits or getting way too competitive at mini golf.
With the park reopening this May, it’s an easy reminder that some of the best days out are just a short drive away!
