This weekend, the St. Michael’s College Troubadours will present Nigel Williams’ stage adaptation of Lord of the Flies, the classic 1954 novel by William Golding.
The familiar plot: Amid a raging war, a plane evacuating a group of schoolboys crashes on a deserted island. With no adult supervision, the boys are left to fend for themselves. While surviving on their own would be difficult enough, it becomes even harder once they realize they might not be alone on the island.
Andrea Perez is set to direct this student-led production, which will unfold on the cavernous Hart House Theatre stage and reimagine the story through a de-colonialist lens.
The cast consists of Jules Auckland, Ethan Verderber, Noam Citrin, Nina Katz, Mia Rebelo, Bellamy Seals, Emily Paterson, Beatrix Stone, Ruoyan Wang, Shannora Lankanathar, and Maria Miroshnichenko. desirée leverenz is on board as dramaturgical advisor.
Tickets are $15 for students, $20 for seniors (as well as University of Toronto alumni), and $25 for adults.
