Cold plunges and other wellness innovations have basically become synonymous with Toronto, thanks to the launch of places like Unbounded and Othership. So it’s no surprise that the city will be getting a new kind of festival: one entirely revolving around wellness. Next month, Unbounded is hosting the Sunset Social Wellness Festival, a one-day-only event that will be filled with everything that people love (or love to hate) about Toronto’s health scene.
The festival will be taking over Evergreen Brick Works for a full day and evening on Aug. 8, offering a series of curated wellness experiences to festival-goers. Expect live DJs, music, cold plunges, saunas, guided breathwork, sound baths and yoga.
Unbounded is known for their cold plunges (like the record-breaking New Year’s Day cold plunge), so guided cold exposure will be a major focus of the event. Led by trained facilitators (and totally optional, lest the freezing temperatures for unbearable stretches of time scares you away), you’ll brave icy waters and learn to meet discomfort with calm and control rather than force.
Participate in a DIY thermal experience by hopping between cold plunges and sauna rituals; enjoy guided sessions designed with unique heat levels, aromas and techniques for relaxing and resetting.
The recovery zone will feature experiences like red light therapy, massages, stretching, myofascial release and even IV boosters (celebrities love this one).
Recharge between sessions with access to recovery-focused experiences like red light therapy, massages, stretching, myofascial release, and IV boosters.
Stay centred through intentional breathing and yoga sessions, which will be available throughout the space to ground your energy and apparently improve flexibility.
It may be a wellness festival, but there will still be food and entertainment: live DJs and performances are scheduled throughout the day to keep energy high, and hydration stations and food vendors. (for all dietary needs, of course) will be available.
The festival is spread throughout Evergreen Brick Works, meaning there will be a mix of both indoor and outdoor spaces — so dress accordingly for the weather!
The Sunset Social Wellness Festival runs from 2–10 p.m. on Aug. 8, with pre-sale tickets currently on sale for $39.
