This week on The Masked Singer, season 14 kicked off with a brand-new format that immediately raised the stakes. Ten contestants competed in five head-to-head battles, with the audience voting on which performers were safe. The five singers who lost their matchups were forced into a second round of voting—and by the end of the night, two contestants faced unmasking and elimination.
Or at least, they were supposed to.
SPOILER ALERT: Check out our elimination recap from the season 14 premiere below to find out who was unmasked—and which reveal ended in a cliffhanger.

Who got unmasked on The Masked Singer tonight?
The five singers who lost their initial head-to-head battles were Queen Corgi, Snow Cone, Handyman, The Croissants and Googly Eyes. After a second round of audience voting, the bottom two performers were sent to unmask—with Googly Eyes revealed first.
Googly Eyes went out on a high-energy note, performing “Turn Down for What” by DJ Snake and Lil Jon, leaning into confidence and crowd-pumping chaos rather than traditional vocals.

Who is Googly Eyes on The Masked Singer?
After his elimination, Googly Eyes was unmasked and revealed to be David Ortiz, better known to baseball fans as the legendary Big Papi of the Boston Red Sox.
Before the reveal, the panel locked in their final guesses:
- Ken Jeong confidently stuck with Ortiz from earlier when Googly Eyes performed.
- Robin Thicke guessed fellow Red Sox icon Pedro Martinez.
- Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg went with Yankees all-star Derek Jeter.
- Rita Ora guessed yet another Red Sox star in Manny Ramirez.

Jeong’s correct guess marked a rare victory for the panelist. It’s only the third time he’s been correct right out of the gate in Masked Singer history, following Barry Zito as Rhino in season 3 and Howie Mandel as Rock Lobster in season 9.
Ortiz’s reveal drew cheers from the crowd as the Red Sox legend finally stepped out from inside the googly-eyed monster, which was the tallest costume the show has ever made.
What happened with The Croissants?
The second unmasking of the night belonged to The Croissants—but viewers were left hanging.
The panel locked in their final guesses:
- Jeong guessed country royalty Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
- Thicke stuck with Jersey Shore stars Snooki and Mike Sorrentino.
- McCarthy Wahlberg remained confident in ex-cons and ex-reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley.
- Ora guessed reality TV couple Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag.
However, in a surprise twist, the episode ended before The Croissants were revealed, pushing their unmasking to next week and closing the premiere on a cliffhanger.
