Accor has expanded the reach of its apartment hotel brand, The Sebel, with the launch of The Sebel Melbourne Kew. Formerly known as Hotel 115, the property has transitioned to The Sebel brand following a franchise agreement with the Regional Accommodation Group (RA Group). This move marks the ninth The Sebel establishment in Victoria and the 35th in Australia and New Zealand.

The Sebel Melbourne Kew is the RA Group’s first urban hotel, joining their collection of eight regional properties across New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland. To facilitate the transformation, the RA Group is proceeding with a comprehensive refurbishment of the lobby and reception area, with plans for an overall upgrade of the accommodation.

The hotel offers 89 rooms and 23 one—and two-bedroom apartments, suitable for a range of guests, including long-term stayers, families, executives, and conference groups. It also houses a function space that accommodates up to 130 people for cocktail receptions or 80 for banquets, further solidifying its reputation as a preferred venue for corporate and social events in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

Located just 6km from Melbourne’s CBD, The Sebel Melbourne Kew is conveniently connected to the city center via the Eastern Freeway and direct tram services. The suburb of Kew is well-regarded for its mix of heritage charm, Victorian homes, tree-lined streets, and high-end shopping and dining options.

Adrian Williams, Accor Pacific Chief Operating Officer PM&E, expressed his delight at the new partnership with the RA Group and The Sebel Melbourne Kew’s addition to Accor’s hotels in Melbourne. He stressed that the new property would significantly enhance its portfolio in the eastern suburbs, providing an excellent base for business and leisure travelers.

The RA Group’s Managing Director, Dominic Quilligan, emphasized that rebranding the property as The Sebel was a key factor in the collaboration. He expressed enthusiasm about working with Accor, benefiting from their understanding of the Melbourne market, and witnessing a significant increase in the property’s performance due to Accor’s established distribution channels and marketing.

The launch of The Sebel Melbourne Kew signifies Accor’s 42nd hotel in Melbourne and its surrounding suburbs, demonstrating the Group’s continuing commitment to providing top-tier accommodation across the region.
