Ace Frehley has died at age 74. The legendary original Kiss guitarist died on Oct. 16 following a fall in his studio that took place last month, Variety reported. The singer had reportedly been on a ventilator.

Up to the end, Frehley was devoted to his fans. While the final post on the music legend’s Instagram page was an announcement that he made the decision to cancel the rest of his 2025 concert dates, fans now know that his medical situation was much worse than originally stated.

A post on Frehley’s Instagram account on Sept. 25 initially announced he had to cancel one show on his 10,000 Volts Tour on doctor’s orders after suffering from a fall in his recording studio.

The post read:  “Dear Rock Soldiers. Ace had a minor fall in his studio, resulting in a trip to the hospital. He is fine, but against his wishes, his doctor insists that he refrain from travel at this time. “

Days after the performance at the Antelope Valley Fair in Lancaster, California, was canceled, Frehley’s social media stated that he canceled all dates for the remainder of 2025.

The  last non-medical-related Instagram posts were tributes to fans.

On Oct. 2, a post on Frehley’s account featured a video of a guitarist and the caption, “Can we give PROPS to David Ashdown and his quick vid?👈 Ace LOVES to showcase his Fan Art- and this was just the icing on the cake! Thanks, David!”

The post before Frehley’s original medical update was also fan related. Just two days before his fall, the rocker posed with a fan backstage at his 10,000 Volts Tour, which featured her painting of a hand holding a heart referencing the lyrics of the song “Rip It Out.“

“OF COURSE Ace signed it!” the caption read.
