• AI-Generated Reviews and Itineraries Distrusted by Luxury Travelers, Survey Finds

A recent survey by the luxury travel company Andrew Harper reveals that most affluent American travelers still prefer human-generated advice over artificial intelligence (AI) for planning their vacations.

The survey, conducted in September, included 500 participants with a household income of $100,000 or more. Participants were asked about their attitudes towards the use of AI in travel planning.

According to the survey, 86% of the respondents agreed or strongly agreed that they would rather trust unbiased travel reviews from a reliable source than AI-generated content. Similarly, 78% of the participants preferred travel itineraries created by trusted travel advisors to those generated by AI. Furthermore, 82% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that increased AI-generated travel content increases their susceptibility to misinformation and potential scams.

Don Jones, Senior Vice President of Andrew Harper, interpreted the survey results as a clear indication of consumers’ skepticism toward using AI in travel planning. Jones emphasized the significance of human connection and trust in their service, with members relying on the company for expert, unbiased reviews on various aspects of their luxury vacations.

Andrew Harper’s team annually undertakes worldwide travels, reviewing various aspects of the travel experience, including hotels, resorts, cruises, restaurants, and excursions. Their reviews are conducted independently and anonymously, to provide authentic and unbiased evaluations. The company’s review process is rigorous, prioritizing character, comfort, and personal service, in their quest to identify truly exceptional travel experiences.
