Alberta’s own Tate McRae was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night, and the Calgary native surprised the audience by revealing that she and actor Glen Powell sometimes do pilates together.

McRae has had a banner week with the release of her third studio album, So Close to What, which is currently projected to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200, according to Hits Daily Double.

While speaking with Fallon, McRae mentioned it was her first appearance on a late-night show, before diving into the Sydney Sweeney feature on her opening track “Miss Possessive.” She revealed she connected with the actress through Glen Powell after running into her previously.

“Glen Powell, who I do pilates with sometimes, he just connected us,” before being interrupted by Fallon over the situation.

“I’m so sorry, we have to go back to this. A lot of people want to do pilates with Glen Powell, this is kind of fun,” added Fallon, with McRae quipping that it is indeed really fun.

She then returned to her connection with Sweeney, who later sent her multiple voice memos for the song just three days before the album’s release, and the rest is history.

Later in the interview, she gave Fallon a crash course lesson on dance moves from the “It’s ok I’m ok” music video.

It’s shaping up to be a massive 2025 for 21-year-old McRae, who is set to embark on her first arena tour later this year.

While we are on the topic of McRae, we can’t forget that she cracked the top five most searched-for musicians by Canadians on Google for all of 2024. She’s crushing it!
