Spring has officially sprung, and that means warmer weather is afoot. Whether it’s currently warm for you or your area is still clutching onto those last few weeks of winter temps, it’s always a good time to reassess your closet for seasonal outfits. Spring is a great time to pull out those dresses and skirts, and a denim maxi skirt is all the rage right now. If you need a new look or want to add another skirt to your wardrobe, keep an eye on Aldi this week because they’re dropping this trendy item. Not only is it affordable, but it looks like more expensive styles at Madewell and Bloomingdale’s that are up to nine times the price.
From April 2 to April 8, Aldi is selling their Serra Denim Maxi Skirt for $12.99 in the Aldi Finds aisle of local U.S. stores. It’s a classic style with a slit in the front that widens from the knee down, and has two front pockets and a smaller pocket within the right one.

Serra Denim Maxi Skirt, $12.99 at Aldi
Aldi
Aldi’s denim maxi skirt comes in two colors: blue medium wash and black. The blue wash is a bright blue jean color with a little worn look to the color near the waist (but not distressed). The seams are a tan color that most blue jeans have, and it has a silver button at the top of the zipper fly closure.

The black skirt also has a worn look to it and it’s a bit more obvious because the black has some lighter grayish areas; it’s not a solid black color. The button is black and so are the seams, giving this a darker look.
Both colors are made with fabric consisting of 98% cotton and 2% spandex, for a little bit of stretch. They also both have belt loops around the waist of the skirt as well as seams down the middle of the backside. They’re a straight fit as well, meaning that the skirt goes straight down (it doesn’t flare).
Denim Western Maxi Skirt in Emario Wash, $59.99 (originally $118) at Madewell
Madewell
As we mentioned before, Aldi’s jean skirt looks a lot like others out there, including Madewell’s Denim Western Maxi Skirt in Emario Wash. It’s currently on sale for $59.99 but originally cost $118. It seems much longer than Aldi’s, though it’s hard to say because Aldi’s isn’t on a model and doesn’t have measurements. But other than that, they have very similar designs.
Madewell’s skirt has a slit in the front with a wide opening along with a straight fit. It comes in the color “Pomaria Wash,” which is a bit of a muted blue in comparison to Aldi’s, but it’s still close. It has a golden button and stylish seams on the front.
Hudson – Denim Midi Skirt, $118.13 (originally $225) at Bloomingdale’s
Bloomingdale's
Then there’s the Hudson Denim Midi Skirt at Bloomingdale’s. It’s currently on sale for $118.13 and originally cost $225. It also has nearly the same design as Aldi’s maxi denim skirt, even down to the zig-zag seam at the front. It has that same slit opening and a silver button. It has the same number of pockets and it seems to be close in length (even though this is called a midi).
So if you’re interested in getting a new denim skirt for the spring and are intrigued by the maxi skirt trend, Aldi is a good place to start. Considering how inexpensive their Serra Denim Maxi Skirt is in comparison to skirts that look nearly the same, it’s a pretty great deal.
