Aldi Is Selling a Stylish $20 Quilted Tote So Similar to a Popular Free People Style Over 3x the Price

Luxury purses are nice, but sometimes you just need a bag or tote to carry all your important items. And you might not want to spend a ton of money for a bag to do that. But you also don’t want to carry around something that’s not fun to look at. Lucky for you, Aldi is dropping a new bag this upcoming week and it’s not only a decent size and has a zipper to keep your items secure, it also looks just like a popular quilted Free People bag that’s over three times the price.

From Oct. 16 to Oct. 22, Aldi is selling a LIVE IN STYLE Quilted Carry All Tote for $19.99 in their Aldi Finds aisle of their U.S. stores (while supplies last). It has a sack kind of design; the main compartment of the bag is a wide, rounded “U” shape with a continuous strap connected to the sides. And the puffy quilted fabric covers the whole bag. 

The tote measures 17 inches tall, 14 inches wide and 6.5 inches deep, which is a pretty good size for all your important things like your wallet, keys, water bottle, books and more.

LIVE IN STYLE Quilted Carry All Tote, $19.99 at Aldi

Aldi’s quilted tote bag comes in four colors: black, blue (royal blue), pink (salmon pink) and olive (green). And while Aldi’s site doesn’t say what the bag is made out of, it looks like it has a nylon or puffer-coat fabric that has a tiny sheen to it. As we stated before, it has a “spacious main compartment” that’s zippered, which already puts it above a lot of totes out there. 

It also has interior pockets for organizing within the bag along with a “key leash,” which is where you hook your keys to so they aren’t lost within the depths of your bag. And lastly, this bag has an “invisible back pocket.” It doesn’t say if this pocket is zippered or how it’s made “invisible,” but odds are its opening is located within the lines of the quilted fabric.

FP Movement Quilted Carryall, $68 at Free People

This Aldi Carry All Tote bag looks so much like Free People’s popular FP Movement Quilted Carryall bag (which almost has the same name too!). It’s currently $68 and comes in so many colors. 

Aldi’s tote is basically the same design: a large main compartment that’s wide and rounded on the bottom with a connected strap and quilted fabric. This one measures 6.5 inches deep and 17 inches long, so it’s the exact same size. It’s made from a “textile” fabric, so also like Aldi’s bag, it’s hard to say what this is made of. It also has a main zippered compartment with at least one zippered interior pocket, and zippered exterior pockets.

While you can probably guess that a bag from somewhere like Free People that’s almost $70 is better quality than something from Aldi, it’s hard to say with how little we know about the fabrication. However, that price difference might point to the possibility that the FP Movement bag lasts longer. Regardless, though, if you like the design but don’t want to pay more than $20 for nearly the same bag, Aldi’s LIVE IN STYLE Quilted Carry All Tote is definitely worth checking out.
