In Resident Evil Requiem, the best guns will always ensure that even the strongest enemies will fall after a few hits. A gun’s effectiveness may change depending on the situation. For example, a one-hit-kill revolver is great, but it is the worst option when facing multiple enemies. That’s why having a vast arsenal is the best approach to fight all types of enemies in Resident Evil Requiem. The only problem is, you’ll need to find them to use them.
To help you prepare for the fights to come, we put together this guide covering the best guns in Resident Evil Requiem and where to find every weapon.
[Ed. note: This guide contains minor spoilers for Resident Evil Requiem.]
Best guns in Resident Evil Requiem
Although all guns can be useful — especially for Grace who only has access to three different guns — you can’t carry all of them, so you must choose guns that handle a variety of foes. If you’re wondering which ones you should keep in your personal inventory, here are the guns you should have in your inventory at all times:
Requiem
There isn’t much to be said about the most powerful revolver in the game. It kills most of the regular enemies with a single hit, and it’s the best option to use in boss fights. This gun has one downside: it requires a rare type of ammo. You can only craft more Requiem ammo when playing as Grace, and, even then, the crafting material is as rare as the actual ammo. Even so, you should always have the Requiem with you as your emergency plan.
W870 Police
Shotguns are all about raw power and, among the available options, the W870 Police is the best one. It has a lower fire rate than 990-TAC, but considering we don’t want to be shooting several times with a shotgun to put an enemy down, this is not really a problem.
Classic 70
When it comes to sniping down enemies from afar, the Classic 70 is the real star. As a sniper rifle, it has everything you need: high power, stability, and precision. Although Marksman 1A has better reload speed and fire rate, the idea behind a sniper rifle is to land a deadly headshot. If your target is alive after the first shot, hitting the next one is much harder, so you want a sniper rifle that kills whatever you’re aiming at.
All weapon locations in Resident Evil Requiem
Most weapons in Resident Evil Requiem are only available to Leon, while Grace has fewer options. This list includes all weapons, with the character who can use each listed in parentheses.
- 990-TAC (Leon)
- Alligator Snapper (Leon)
- Classic 70 (Leon)
- Gal (Leon)
- Hatchet (Leon)
- Marksman 1A (Leon)
- Mortal Edge (Leon)
- MSBG 500 (Leon)
- Requiem (Leon and Grace)
- Silencer 9 (Leon)
- S&S M232 (Grace)
- Stiri REVO3 A1 (Leon)
- W870 Police (Leon)
For Leon, while most of them can be bought from a supply box, others must be found during your first playthrough. Two of the three weapons Grace has access to were given to her during the campaign, leaving only the S&S M232 pistol to be found. In future save files, every weapon that Leon collects becomes available for you to buy from supply boxes.
For more information on where to find every weapon available in the campaign, check out the section below.
S&S M232 location
You find the S&S M232 pistol on the counter in the Bar & Lounge room in the care center. It’s considerably stronger than Grace’s starting pistol, so acquiring this one is a solid upgrade.
MSBG 500 location
The first shotgun you have access to in RE9, the MSBG 500 is a great gun for the first half of the game, only losing to the Requiem. You find it during the Attic segment of the campaign, after Leon escapes from Victor and finds a Chunk, a large baby-like creature that acts as the first real boss.
Gal location
As you’re looking for one of the batteries to open a gate to the gas station, you’ll explore a flooded parking garage that is infested with zombies. Inside the small room in the northwestern corner, you’ll find the Gal, which is your first submachine gun in RE9, inside a small briefcase.
Marksman 1A location
The second sniper rifle Leon has access to during the campaign, the Marksman 1A is faster and initially offers a more potent scope than the Classic 70. To obtain this gun, you must find container #3 near the gas station in East Raccoon City. Be prepared because there are a few zombies hiding inside.
W870 Police location
The W870 Police is another shotgun Leon can use in the final segment of the game. More potent than the MSBG 500, it’s difficult not to make the W870 your favorite. You find this gun inside the Gun Shop Kendo after you leave the Raccoon Police Department. It’s located on a shelf behind the door. However, as you enter the gun shop, you’ll enter a cutscene that spits you outside, so make sure to go back in to grab the gun.
All Resident Evil Requiem completion weapons
After having completed the game once, you unlock the “Special Content” section in the Bonuses menu. By spending challenge points, you can buy many things, among them more weapons and guns. They are tied to either Grace or Leon, and once obtained, you can retrieve them from the item box as Grace or the supply box for credits as Leon.
