In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you’ll need to participate in the Z-A Royale, which ranks you from, well, ranks Z to A. After you rank up, you’ll need to take on a promotion match battle against a special trainer to progress. Early on, these trainers aren’t too tough, and they have diverse teams. As you progress through, you’ll start taking on specific specialists of certain types, similar to old school gym battles.
