Amazon Announces Its #1 Cookbook of the Year

2 December 20252 Mins Read

Amazon has announced its #1 cookbook of the year for 2025, and it may be a surprising choice for some due to its subject matter.

This year, savory meal options took a backseat to sweets, and gourmand treats came out on top, with a bakery-themed publication taking the cake (pun intended).

Amazon’s #1 cookbook for 2025 is Cookies: The Best Recipes for the Perfect Anytime Treat by Vaughn Vreeland.

The national bestseller puts cookies at the top of the dessert food chain, delivering the “ultimate collection of treats—from classic recipes that taste like home, to flavor-packed bites that will become your new go-tos,” according to its description.

“Yes, we chose a single subject cookbook—on cookies, no less—as the #1 cookbook of the year. This may be surprising, but once you get a hold of Cookies you’ll see why,” Amazon Editor Seira Wilsonpromised of the choice.

It includes an “all-star group of contributors,” like Melissa Clark, Jesse Szewczyk, Dorie Greenspan, and Claire Saffitz, to name a few. One can’t-miss feature Wilson pointed out is the Table of Cookies—”Like a table of contents, only this is a listing of every cookie in the book with a thumbnail photograph. It’s genius.”

She further described the recipes themselves as #lifegoals, admitting, “I seriously want to make every cookie in this book.”

“Don’t miss the Strawberry Jam Bars with Cardamom—they’re a revelation. If you even have a thought of making cookies this holiday season—or on a random Sunday—you’re going to want this cookbook,” Wilson continued to praise.

Other standout and unique cookie recipes in the book include Lemon-Turmeric Crinkle, Rum-Buttered Almond, Peanut Butter Miso, Gochujang Caramel, Pistachio Pinwheels, and more.

With a 4.8-star rating on Amazon, the October 2025 New York Times Cooking publication has been hailed “a must-have for cookie lovers,” with one reviewer noting it has “something for every kind of baker.”

The “recipes are top-notch,” “incredible,” and “easy to follow,” more fans insisted. “Also makes a great gift!”

And as an extra special treat, New York Times Cooking is celebrating Cookie Week, Dec. 1 to 7, by releasing seven new cookie recipes and videos.

All 2025 Cookie Week recipes are now available, including:

  • Popcorn Bucket Cookies by Vaughn Vreeland
  • Mortadella Cookies by Claire Saffitz
  • Coconut Cake Snowballs by Samantha Seneviratne
  • Mint Chocolate Chip Cookies by Eric Kim
  • Peanut Brown-Butter Cookies by Sue Li
  • Vietnamese Coffee Swirl Brownies by Melissa Clark
  • Dark ‘n’ Stormy Cookies by Dan Pelosi
