According to a recent JustWatch report, Prime Video comes in at number one in market share among Canadian users, officially knocking Netflix from the top spot. Amazon Prime Video led with almost a quarter of the Canadian market at 24 per cent, while Netflix came in at second place with 23 per cent market share. 

The report is based on data from 2.3 million monthly users on JustWatch in Canada, analyzing their streaming preferences, engagement with streaming offers and the titles they’ve marked as seen. We break down the full report below, along with what’s worth streaming right now on each of Canada’s most popular streaming services.

Canada’s top streaming services, ranked

1. Prime Video, 24 per cent

As Canada’s top streaming service, Prime Video is your go-to for movies, TV shows, live TV and Monday Night Hockey games. The service comes included with an Amazon Prime membership.

How to sign up: To access Prime Video, you’ll need to have an Amazon Prime account. If you’re new to Prime, you’re eligible for a 30-day free trial, otherwise plans start at $9.99/month.

2. Netflix, 23 per cent

Netflix remains one of Canada’s most popular streaming services, trailing Video Prime by just one per cent. The OG streaming service has you covered with exclusive movies and TV series for adults and kids.

3. Disney+, 19 per cent

Relative newcomer Disney+ continues to gain momentum, earning third place among Canadian streaming enthusiasts. More than just Disney movies and TV shows, you’ll also find shows from F/X, National Geographic and more.

4. Crave, 13 per cent

Local favourite streaming service Crave has experienced growth since launching in 2014, coming in fourth place for Canada’s favourite streaming service. It’s the spot to catch HBO exclusives in Canada, including new series and cult classics alike.

5. Paramount+, 8 per cent

Enjoy blockbuster hits and exclusive series with a Paramount+ subscription, Canada’s fifth favourite streaming service. Its library includes a range of classics from CBS, Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, BET, the Smithsonian Channel, Showtime and Paramount Pictures.
