B.C. gang police keep watchful eye on Hells Angels anniversary party

Police in the Lower Mainland are on alert after the local branch of the notorious bike gang Hell’s Angels is holding a weekend rally in Langley to mark its 40th anniversary.
A large party was being held at the White Rock Hells Angels chapter, and many law enforcement tents and police officers were seen setting up across the street.
B.C.’s leading anti-gang police, the Union Special Enforcement Service, which monitors biker activity, has issued a number of warnings about why the public should give gangs more room.
“(They’re here) celebrating their 40th anniversary. They have members of the Hell’s Angels, outlaw motorcycle gang supporters, and some of their puppets and support clubs from all over Canada here to support them,” Sergeant said. Lindsey Horton.
“The main purpose of police surveillance this weekend is to ensure public safety.
“We want to make sure the Hells Angels and their members are on the other side of the closed gates and are partying safely.”

Hilary Morden, a BC gang expert and former professor of criminology and psychology at SFU, told Global News that motorcycle clubs are bigger than ever.
“This is a big deal. They have a lot to celebrate. They’ve been here in BC for 40 years and today they’re stronger than ever,” she said.
“We have hundreds of members across BC and they wear their colors in public every day.”
Police are notifying members of the public and motorists around the Lower Mainland that members of the Hells Angels and their support club will be biking at various locations throughout the weekend.
They will also be attending other parties at Hell’s Angels clubhouses in Vancouver, Coquitlam and Mission.
