From The Godfather films to Annie Hall, from The First Wives’ Club to Something’s Gotta Give, legendary actress Diane Keaton left an indelible mark on cinema and beyond. (Keaton died in Santa Monica, California, on October 11, 2025, at age 79.) And one of the late, great star’s most beloved titles isBaby Boom, the 1987 comedy directed by Charles Shyer and co-written with Nancy Meyers that stars Keaton as a career woman who unexpectedly inherits the baby girl of a long-lost cousin.

Keaton’s performance as high-powered management consultant J.C. “Tiger Lady” Wiatt was one of her most iconic roles, earning the star a Golden Globe nomination and praise from critics. Pauline Kael of The New Yorker wrote at the time: “Keaton is smashing: The Tiger Lady’s having all this drive is played for farce and Keaton keeps you alert to every shade of pride and panic the character feels. She’s an ultra-feminine executive, a wide-eyed charmer, with a breathless ditziness that may remind you of Jean Arthur in The More the Merrier.”

So, understandably, that makes whoever is going to play Keaton’s character in a Baby Boom remake all the more daunting, especially now that news has hit that Michael Showalter (The Big Sick, Wet Hot American Summer) is creating a contemporary reimagining of the 1987 fan favorite.

It’s still early days on the upcoming comedy film, but here’s everything we know so far about the Baby Boom remake.
