No matter where you’re living, a city’s roster of restaurants is constantly changing. And that’s why works hard to keep on top of all the best places to eat in our favourite spots across the world.

One of the best cities in Europe for dining out is, of course, Amsterdam, but there have been some temporary changes to the Dutch capital’s restaurant offering – which means a new spot sitting in first place on our roundup.

Claiming the coveted position of the best restaurant in Amsterdam is BAK, a high-end restaurant which started out as a vegetarian pop-up, but now also incorporates locally sourced meat and fish into its menu.

Karin Engelbrecht, ’s local food writer in Amsterdam, said: ‘BAK is situated in the old Het Veem warehouse, and the restaurant makes the most of its location with glimpses of the Oude Houthaven. A clean, modern interior best described as ‘Dutch minimalist’ doesn’t detract from its sophisticated seasonal fare.’ You can read more about this place, including its menu and prices, in her review

In second place, it’s Daaldler, which offers a stunning six-course tasting menu or seasonal a la carte options, and in third place it’s De Kas, a beautiful restaurant tucked inside greenhouses which date back to 1926.

Now, if you’re wondering where our previous top two restaurants (which reigned supreme for all of 2024), Flore and Kaagman & Kortegas, have gone, don’t you worry.

Both businesses are temporarily closed for renovations right now, so they now sit in positions four and five on our list. Can’t wait until they reopen? Check out Flore’s pop up at Basecamp Amsterdam and Kaagman & Kortegas’ one at the Lancaster Hotel.
