Alongside unveiling the top trending destinations this summer, based on an increase in searches compared to last summer, travel search engine Kayak has revealed the destinations that have received the most overall searches this season.

Topping the list is Bangkok, Thailand’s sprawling, bustling capital, which we recently named as one of the very best cities in the world.

‘To start, it’s one of the world’s friendliest cities – a warm welcome is pretty much guaranteed in the capital of a country known as the ‘Land of Smiles’,’ writes Kaweewat Siwanartwong, Thailand’s staff writer, ‘Intricately designed temples like Wat Arun and the Grand Palace offer a glimpse into Bangkok’s rich culture and captivating history, while parks like Benjakitti Park provide vital green breathing space. And, of course, Bangkok’s food scene is second to none.’
