In an exclusive clip from the new episode, Baylen has a candid conversation with the new friends she met at TIC-CON, one of whom points out, “Obviously, a lot of our tics look different.”
“But we all have Tourette’s,” Baylen adds.
“I didn’t realize that I had Tourettic OCD,” another friend at the table explains, “where like I have to do things like a certain amount of times or like something bad will happen.”
That same individual also tells the group that while being diagnosed by doctors at the age of 7, her dad also received the same diagnosis.
“That’s insane that your dad went that long without any answers,” Baylen responds.
In the middle of the conversation, Baylen spills her drink at the hand of her tics. She then quickly wipes it up, and one of her new friends reminds her, “This is a safe space.”
Speaking in a confessional, another person from the convention tells the cameras: “The hardest part about living with Tourette Syndrome i think—I don’t know—on hard days, you know, wishing that you weren’t here anymore.”
However, she insists, “Experiences like this not only changes but saves lives because you know you find your people, you realize that hey I have people like me who understand what I’m going through and you know, I can do this.”
Check out the rest of Baylen’s experience at the TIC-CON event during the upcoming episode of Baylen Out Loud, airing Monday, Jan. 27 at 9 p.m. ET on TLC.
