The Bedarra Island Resort, known for its luxury and exclusivity, is set to be sold. It is the only freehold island resort in Australia. CBRE Hotels’ Tom Gibson and Wayne Bunz are managing the sale through an International Expression of Interest campaign.

Property Details

The sale includes two components: the Bedarra Island Resort and the Hideaway parcel. The resort covers 45 hectares on the island’s eastern side. The Hideaway parcel offers 35 hectares for potential expansion. Bedarra Island Resort, established in 1986, features 12 private villas and operates as an all-inclusive destination. It has north and south-facing beaches, rainforest gardens, and coral reefs.

Historical Context

Bedarra Island Resort has been a prominent player in the luxury lodge sector in Australia. It has received awards, including ‘The Best All-Inclusive Resort in the World’ by Condé Nast Traveler and ‘Best Island Luxury All-Inclusive Award’ by Five Star Alliance.

Potential for Development

The Hideaway parcel, formerly owned by Australian Airlines, remains undeveloped and presents opportunities for expansion or new development. It features beaches and views overlooking the Family Group of Islands, the Coral Sea, and the surrounding mountains.

The International Expressions of Interest campaign will conclude on Friday, 31 October, at 12:00 PM (AEDT).
