Thousands of Bell Canada customers across the country are experiencing widespread internet outages today, May 21, 2025, with major disruptions reported from coast to coast.
According to Downdetector, a popular user report database, the majority of issues are related to landline internet, total blackouts, and mobile data services. Over 130,000 Bell customers have reported outages in the last 24 hours.
As of 10 a.m. ET, the locations with the most reports are Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Brampton, Halifax, and Mississauga.
Bell Support acknowledged the issue on social media, posting the following update at 9:52 a.m. ET:
“Some customers in Ontario and Quebec may be experiencing an Internet service interruption. We are working to restore service as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.”
Meanwhile, many customers have taken to X to voice their frustration with the outage.
Multiple people reported not being able to reach the company’s customer service department this morning.
One user speculated that a cyber attack is the cause.
Another was thankful for the chance to skip out on work meetings.
Bell’s official outage checker currently indicates that service status updates may be delayed or unavailable for some users . Customers are encouraged to log in to MyBell for personalized updates or to follow @Bell_Support on X for the latest information.
