Body of Toronto man recovered from Trent River near Campbellford: Northumberland OPP

A Toronto man died Saturday evening in a drowning incident in the Trent River and Runny Falls area near Campbellford, Ontario.
The Northumberland OPP said police responded to a call around 5:20 p.m. of a suspected victim who had jumped into the water.
Police reported that the individual subsequently went underwater and was unable to surface.
Officers from the Trent Hills Fire Department and the Northumberland State Ambulance Service began searching the waterway, police said.
The body of a 27-year-old Scarborough resident was found about two hours later, police said. He was confirmed dead at the scene.
OPP said the Ontario Chief Coroner’s Office was at the scene to assist with the investigation.
