Boggle, Tetris, and Lego Among Launch Titles

Netflix’s cloud gaming offerings have just got a lot more social. The streamer announced in early October that it would team up with some well-known games and brands for new party game offerings that will stream to your television, connected device, or the web. Those have now launched and are available in 

Here’s a breakdown of the new game releases coming to Netflix soon, with descriptions supplied by Netflix: 

• LEGO® Party! 
  • Description: “Square off against your friends in the ultimate LEGO party game. Compete in hilarious minigames and hunt for gold through themed Challenge Zones.”
  • Number of Players: 1-4
  • Developed by: SMG Games
• Boggle Party
  • Description: “Race against the clock to find words (the longer, the better) in a jumbled-up letter grid. Play solo or make it a party with up to eight players.”
  • Number of Players: 1-8
  • Developed by: Next Games, A Netflix Game Studio
• Pictionary: Game Night 
  • Description: “Draw ’til you drop — or one of your friends guesses what you’re sketching — in this hilarious and fast-paced spin on Mattel’s classic group game.”
  • Number of Players: 2-10
  • Developed by: Next Games, A Netflix Game Studio
• Tetris Time Warp
  • Description: “Time-travel with friends to different eras of Tetris, from the 1984 original to the classic Gameboy version. Can you warp your way to a top score?”
  • Number of Players: 1-4
  • Developed by: Atari, SneakyBox
• Party Crashers: Fool Your Friends 
  • Description: “One person at this party secretly has no idea what everyone else is talking about. Figure out whose clues are fishy to unmask the crasher.”
  • Number of Players: 3-6
  • Developed by: Next Games, A Netflix Game Studio

These will join Netflix’s other Cloud gaming offerings, which let you play games directly from the Netflix app on the web or on your television using your phone as a controller by scanning a QR code. They join Netflix’s library of other cloud offerings, including Oxenfree, Link Twin, and Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit.

Sadly, not everyone with a Netflix subscription can experience the games. According to the Netflix help page:

“Games are currently available in the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Spain, Mexico, France, Italy, Poland, Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, Finland, Germany, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand on a selection of devices.”

Having now played a few with my colleague Jacob in our office, we’re pleasantly surprised. It’s very simple to hook up your phone as a controller, and the games are snappy and responsive. 

The initial news came as Greg Peters, co-CEO of Netflix, spoke with Lucas Shaw at Bloomberg’s ScreenTime event in Los Angeles, where he gave the company’s efforts in the gaming space a B-minus grade thus far. He states that much of the learning thus far has been laying the groundwork for what’s to come. Of course, as we’ve seen over the past couple of years, there has been a massive pullback in mobile game offerings, with projects canceled and offerings removed entirely, in addition to a change of leadership at Netflix’s Games division. Peters also expressed that it has been hard to get the word out that Netflix even offers games, but said they’re experimenting in many ways, including the live voting feature we recently covered for the David Chang cooking show. 

These cloud games are in addition to Netflix’s mobile game offerings. Upcoming titles include WWE 2K25: Netflix Edition, which has just soft-launched ahead of a global rollout in the near future. Football Manager 26 Mobile, alongside kids’ games such as PAW Patrol Academy, Toca Boca Hair Salon 4, LEGO DUPLO World, and tie-ins for the new Dr. Seuss shows on Netflix, all of which are confirmed for release this year. Titles in testing include Netflix Puzzled and Spirit Crossing, as well as another party game that Netflix has been quietly testing, called GIFTED.
