Brad Paisley is mourning an emotional loss as the Palisades Fire and other California wildfires continue to rage.

While Paisley now lives in Tennessee, he and his family used to live directly in the fire’s path. In a new Instagram post documenting how he’s watching it all—including his kids’ childhood home—burn down, the country crooner opened up about the strong feelings that accompany the tragedy.

Alongside a heart-racing photo taken by photojournalist Ethan Swope, showing a firefighter hauling a water hose across the front yard of a home engulfed in flames, the musician mourned the loss of the neighborhood where he raised his children.

“We lived in Pacific Palisades for years,” he shared. It was the location of the first house he and his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, bought together. “Memories were made with some of our dearest friends- the first nursery we had to prep, the birthing classes with @kevinnealon and @sukiyeagley. Walking to the local restaurants, the Gelson’s, and the Starbucks.”

Devastatingly, he revealed, “That beautiful old house burned last night. As did most of that community.” As a result, there are countless “good people displaced, devastated and cast out all over LA.”

The “Whiskey Lullaby” singer also debated the best way to fundraise for victims, sharing that he wanted to “post a link to donate or raise awareness” but that the whole situation “feels so much bigger than that.” “I don’t know where to begin,” he explained, promising to share “the right link” when he finds it.

In the meantime, he said, “I just want to mourn the loss of a town. And acknowledge the beauty and the memories of what it was. It is all so tragic and sad.”

As the fires continue to burn, it’s unknown what the total loss will amount to. Among the celebrities who lost their homes was Paris Hilton, who watched her home burn on live TV. Billy Crystal and Ricki Lake also confirmed their homes are gone.
