The Brazilian crime gangster series Rulers of Fortune has been handed a swift official season 2 pickup by Netflix after it burst onto the scene in late October 2025.
The series, known locally as Os Donos do Jogo, is a Brazilian crime drama series produced by Netflix in collaboration with Paranoid, premiering globally on October 29, 2025. Directed and co-created by Heitor Dhalia alongside Bernardo Barcellos and Bruno Passeri, the series dives into the dark underbelly of Rio de Janeiro’s illegal gambling world. At its core is Jefferson Moraes, known as “The Prophet” (André Lamoglia), a young and ambitious man determined to rise through the ranks of the criminal empire once ruled by his father. His ruthless climb for power brings him into conflict with three powerful families —the Guerras, the Fernandezes, and the Saads —who have long controlled the illicit trade.
Since its release, the series has spent 2 weeks in the global top 10s, amassing 84.6 million viewing hours and 11.2 million completed views. It notably grew its viewing hours by 10% in week 2. The show has also entered the daily top 10s in over 50 countries, with it being in the number 1 spot in Brazil since its premiere.
In a statement released to local press in Brazil, actor André Lamoglia said (translated to English using Google Translate): “I am very happy and honored by the affection the audience showed for the first season. We truly dedicated ourselves to this project, so it’s incredible to see such a positive response. Now it’s just a matter of containing our excitement to discover what’s new and start filming the next episodes soon.”
