Dearest gentle reader, we bring you good tidings: there is more Bridgerton for you and the rest of the ton to look forward to.

The hit period drama, based on Julia Quinn’s book series, was renewed for a fourth season back in 2021. Netflix ordered both Seasons 3 and 4 while the second season of Bridgerton was still in production. At the time, the streamer said: “Bridgerton swept us off our feet. The creative team, led by Shonda [Rhimes], knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members. They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the Bridgerton business for a long time to come.”

Which couple will Bridgerton Season 4 focus on?

Benedict Bridgerton will be entering the marriage market in Season 4! Netflix announced on July 23 that the second Bridgerton son, Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson), will take center stage when the show returns.

“Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball,” the streamer teased.

The first three seasons of Bridgerton focused on the love stories of Daphne Bridgerton, Anthony Bridgerton and Colin Bridgerton. While the first two seasons followed the order of Julia Quinn‘s books, the show skipped Benedit Bridgerton’s story in Season 3 and instead jumped ahead to Penelope Featherington and Colin’s romance.

Showrunner Jess Brownell previously explained to Entertainment Weekly, “We’ve spent two seasons really getting to know Penn and Colin. We’ve been watching Penn’s crush and seeing how oblivious Colin is to it. That’s a dynamic that you can only play out for so long before something has to change. This really felt like the right time to lean into what’s been set up with them. On the Benedict side, he’s such a fun character and such a fan favorite that we are really excited to play with him for a little bit more and let him have more fun before he settles down.”

Brownell previously told TV Insider: “I do think that there are some clues at the end of Season 3 of where we’re headed,” adding, “So yeah, I leave that to fans to pick apart, but I think we’re tipping our hand just a little bit.”

In the Season 3 finale, Eloise heads off to Scotland with Francesca,  and tells Benedict that she’ll only be gone until next year. “Do you think Mama would ever let me miss her Masquerade Ball?” she says.

To which Benedict replies, “I will be there, hiding out behind a mask, avoiding eligible ladies like the plague”—a nod to his novel An Offer From a Gentleman.

What is the Bridgerton Season 4 release date?

The fourth season does not have a premiere date yet, however showrunner Jess Brownell told The Hollywood Reporter not to expect the show to return until 2026.

“We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language,” Brownell said. “And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up but somewhere in that range.”

Currently, there’s no specific release date from Netflix for Bridgerton Season 4
