If you were hoping to trade Montreal’s freezing temps for warmer weather, bad news — dozens of flights have already been cancelled at Montreal-Trudeau Airport due to a winter storm sweeping across southern Quebec.
According to Environment Canada, over 10 cm of snow has already fallen on Montreal by 8 a.m. on Thursday, and up to 25 cm more are expected by the end of the day. The ongoing storm, the biggest of the season so far, has made travel messy on the ground and in the air, with flight schedules at Montreal-Trudeau (YUL) taking a serious hit.
More than 30 flights have already been delayed or cancelled, affecting trips to major destinations like Toronto, Halifax, Calgary, Boston, and New York.
As a result, Montreal-Trudeau Airport is advising travellers to check their flight status before heading to the airport and to use public transit if possible to avoid getting stuck in traffic.
Airlines such as Air Canada, Air Transat, and Sunwing have all reported significant disruptions, with some offering rebooking options for affected passengers. But heads up—modifying your reservation could still come with extra fees, depending on the airline’s policy.
For example, Air Canada is offering customers impacted by weather-related flight cancellations occurring between February 12 – February 13, 2025, the chance to modify their booking or claim a future travel credit.
