Canada’s newest $1 coin, featuring an adorable polar bear cub, will delight collectors and nature lovers alike.

The Royal Canadian Mint is selling a 2025 Baby Gift Card set. The set includes five coins, each marked with the current year. However, the most unique piece is a loonie depicting an iconic Canadian animal: the polar bear.

The design features a whimsical sleeping cub with a star-and-moon baby theme.

“Celebrate a new arrival with this bear-y cute set,” reads the website. “Give the gift that says you’re over the moon with excitement for baby’s arrival.”

Onesies and plushies might be popular choices for baby showers, but this set is sure to stand out. This keepsake comes with a cute greeting card where you can include birth information, a personal message, or heartfelt wishes that the baby can read when they’re older.

Both sides of the coin were designed by two Canadian artists.

Canadian coinTony Bianco designed the reverse, which features the bear cub, and Steven Rosati designed the obverse, which features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III. The coin is made of three-ply brass-finish-plated steel.

There will only be $100,000 of these bear cub coins available, and according to the Mint, the coin is only part of the set that also includes a $2 coin, a 25-cent coin, a 10-cent coin, and a 5-cent coin in a blister pack inside the card. You can even mail it as the set comes enclosed with an envelope.

“Perfect for in-person gift-giving, sharing, or even sending abroad, a gift card set is a unique way to create and celebrate a memorable moment,” reads the site.

Are you looking to buy this sweet memento? The set retails for $24.95 online and is expected to ship on January 29.
