Vancouver is without a doubt one of the most vegetarian and vegan-friendly cities around, and call us biased, but we think we do it pretty well! And nothing exemplifies this more than Canada’s first and only all-vegan market, organized by Peaces – which includes its popular beachside night markets!

Vancouver’s Vegan Night Market got its start in 2018, when founder Savannah-Rae Furfaro came over from Toronto to, quite literally, feed the city’s growing need for fun, free evening events.

“The market naturally took off, thanks to the incredible community and thriving businesses that make this city so special,” shares Furfaro. “Creating positive experiences and giving back has always been our top priority, and next is to take The Vegan Night Market global!”

Vancouver’s first oceanfront market

In addition to special holiday markets and off-season events, the Vegan Night Market typically hosts a handful of beachside night markets every summer, and this year is no different!

“Our beach markets came back in full swing the first year after COVID, and in 2023, we were approved for three select dates. Fast forward to this year—we’re hosting nine!”

Set at Locarno Beach, these events mark “Vancouver’s first oceanfront market,” according to its website.

Before it gets to be beach market weather, however, the 100% plant-based night market is returning to The Waldorf Hotel, where visitors will have the chance to peruse three distinct areas: An outdoor entrance/exit space with food trucks, bonfires, picnic seating, and complimentary marshmallow roasting, as well as two indoor sections featuring over 20 local businesses, a live DJ, and a cocktail bar. The latter will be pouring tequila espresso martinis adjacent to the market’s distillery sponsor, Cinco Drink Co.

Furfaro shares that there will be plenty of seating areas to chill and enjoy the night, as well as the addition of Vancouver’s newest vegan food truck, Odd Burger.
