Prepare for a dazzling display of sky-high maneuvers and death-defying feats, as the Canadian International Air Show (CIAS) returns to Toronto this summer.
Keep your earmuffs nearby, because a host of high-powered aircrafts will be zooming across the sky from Aug 31 to Sept 2 as the annual summer tradition enters Toronto airspace once again.
Celebrating both the Air Show’s 75th anniversary and the 100th year of the RCAF, CIAS promises that this year’s show will feature two of the best demonstration teams in the world: Canadian Forces Snowbirds and the Royal Air Force Acrobatic Team, the Red Arrows.
Celebrated as the longest-running air show in North America, this year, CIAS will pay homage to the inaugural demonstration in 1946 where the Arvo Lancaster played a prominent role by showcasing one of the only two still-flying Lancasters in the world.
Along with a slew of other breathtaking demonstrations, you’ll also be able to visit a free STEM area on-site that features a full-size aircraft, an immersive virtual reality experience and informative exhibits.
Once the show wraps up, you can grab food and beverages from the concessions stand or head across the street to the CNE, where your Air Show ticket grants you same-day admission, and sample some of the wild eats over there.
The Canadian International Air Show takes place over the Labour Day long weekend, between noon and 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at Marilyn Bell Park.
Tickets to the show start at $80 for General Admission and are available for purchase online now.
There are also a few higher-priced experiences available for the true aspiring aviators among us, including a $4200 “Pilot Maker Experience,” where you get to ride along on an acrobatic flight with performers, attend the CIAS gala and get access to all three days of the show.
Or, of course, you can always keep your eyes on the skies for free.
