It is about to be a lot easier to get into Monster Hunter Wilds. Capcom has revealed plans to streamline the available options for the game nearly a year and a half after it was released. This will introduce a new definitive version of the game, full of goodies, and a price cut for the regular edition.

Capcom announced the changes to the current Monster Hunter Wilds purchase options yesterday (July 13) on social media. In addition to the base game, there are currently Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions of Monster Hunter Wilds to choose from. There is also a Cosmetic DLC Pass that unlocks a number of in-game skins and customization options. Starting on Aug. 3 at 8:00 p.m. ET, these editions will no longer be available.

Capcom is replacing the currently available bundles with three new offerings alongside the base game itself. The Extras Cosmetic DLC pack will bundle a number of paid cosmetics that have until now been available as standalone purchases. The Cosmetic DLC Collection will bundle 10 DLC packs, including everything available in the Extras Pack. Finally, a new Gold edition will be released that bundles the base game with all content included in the Cosmetic DLC Collection. All previous premium bonuses associated with the Premium Deluxe edition of the game will be included with the Gold edition.

No pricing for the Gold edition or new cosmetic bundles has been announced. To coincide with these new offerings, Capcom also announced that the base game will receive a permanent price reduction starting on Aug. 4. The announcement did not specify the size of the price cut, though the game currently costs $69.99. Past reductions from Capcom have been pretty generous, so the base game could cost anywhere between $40 and $50 once the reduction goes into effect, though that has not been confirmed. That could position the Gold Edition at the current price of the base game, giving players a reason to still spend $69.99.

Monster Hunter Wilds is the fastest-selling Capcom game of all time, with 8 million copies purchased within three days of launch. The game is popular, but the latest entry in the long-running series divided new and longtime fans. In our review we wrote, “Monster Hunter Wilds is no doubt a step forward in a lot of ways, with the technical aspects of these games increasingly more impressive than the last. Though I can’t help but feel like the core identity of the series is getting lost along the way.” A paid expansion, Ascendance, is set to be released in 2027

Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X/S. A Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game is currently in development.
