This happened after there was a report that Wasserman had affairs with his employees, according to Variety.

Wasserman was on the flight log for a 2002 AIDS tour in Africa with Maxwell, Chris Tucker, President Bill Clinton, and Kevin Spacey. The FBI interviewed an emergency physician who was onboard to support the president. He revealed there were four women between the ages of 20 and 22 with them, and no one knew why.

President Clinton posted on X on February 6, calling for a public hearing in front of a committee. “I will not sit idly as they use me as a prop in a closed-door kangaroo court by a Republican Party running scared,” read the tweet on his account. “If they want answers, let’s stop the games & do this the right way: in a public hearing, where the American people can see for themselves what this is really about.”

Variety reported on February 9 that artists called for Wasserman to step down and divest or sell the talent agency. He reportedly declined and will meet with the top executives later this week. There is also pressure for him to leave his position as a chairman for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
