Just outside of Edmonton sits a pumpkin festival for the whole family!

Prairie Gardens Adventure Farm’s Haunted Pumpkin Festival begins the first weekend of October, continuing through until the end of the month. Each weekend, visitors can experience a spooky outing and explore a charming farm right outside the city. Whether it’s checking out the pumpkin cannon or walking through their kid-friendly Haunted Farm House, there’s something to entertain everyone.

This tradition has been held annually for the past 30 years, so you definitely don’t want to miss out on this Halloween celebration!

What to expect

There’s a variety of activities to choose from when you get to the farm.

Are you into mazes? They’ve got plenty, with the kids’ corn maze, the sunflower maze, the dragon maze, and the bale mazes. Or, if you’re into something a bit more spooky, they’ve got the Haunted Cemetery and their Spooky Haunted House (family-friendly, of course).

Take a hay ride or a trackless train ride, and maybe enjoy the animals at the petting farm. There is an endless amount of fun to be had at the farm.

Maybe you’ll even find the perfect pumpkin! Either pick your pumpkin right off the vine or from their indoor pumpkin patches. Keep in mind, when the temperatures drop to below freezing, the pumpkins are held in the indoor pumpkin patches.

If you want to just buy a pumpkin from the beautiful pumpkin displays, there’s no charge! Entry fees are charged only when you’d like to explore the mazes and enjoy the activities. You can also make and take your own scarecrow home, with straw, clothes, head bags and string provided by Prairie Gardens.

Kids dressed in a costume get in for free on Halloween, with those aged 12 and under eligible for this deal.

By the way, if you’re looking for an activity to do during Thanksgiving Monday, you’re in luck. Prairie Gardens’ Haunted Pumpkin Festival will be running during the Thanksgiving Monday holiday.
