The hotel is set within a restored 16th-century medieval village on over 99 acres. Chef Vincenzo Martella will oversee the culinary program, and the property will feature three restaurants and bars, a 500-square-meter spa, and a five-bedroom private villa called The Mansion. Standard/Classic Double rooms will start at 400 EUR per night on a B&B basis.
Project Overview
Chapter Chianti is planned as the second property in the Chapter Italia Portfolio, following Chapter Roma, which opened in 2019. The development is led by Marco Cilia. The property will be located in the Chianti region of Tuscany, within a restored 16th-century medieval village that spans over 99 acres. The hotel will offer 82 rooms and aims to combine contemporary design with preserved historical elements. South African designer Tristan Du Plessis of Studio A has led the transformation of the site, incorporating modern architectural features while retaining original stone walls, vaulted ceilings, and centuries-old structural elements.
Location
The property is situated in the Chianti region of Tuscany, approximately 45 minutes from Florence and Siena. The hotel is situated in a restored medieval village and surrounded by vineyards and countryside. The site includes a five-bedroom, five-bathroom private villa called The Mansion, which features a private swimming pool and olive tree gardens.
Development and Design
The design of Chapter Chianti is led by Tristan Du Plessis, who has incorporated clean architectural lines, exposed stone, sculptural lighting, and modern Italian design pieces. The property retains its historic character through the use of original materials such as stone and travertine, and features a color palette inspired by the surrounding landscape. Custom lighting from DCW éditions and Marset, handmade furniture by local artisans, and pieces from &Tradition are included. Artist Kokekit has contributed artwork throughout the property, including a piece beneath the swimming pool.
Culinary Program
Chef Vincenzo Martella, a Michelin-starred chef with more than two decades of experience, will oversee the culinary direction at Chapter Chianti. The property will have three restaurants and bars: Osso, a signature restaurant inspired by Italian grills and chophouses; the Pool Bar Parasole, offering Mediterranean-inspired light bites; and the Main Bar, described as channeling New York energy. The property will also feature Hey Güey, a Mexican food truck also found at Chapter Roma.
Wellness and Activities
The hotel will include Spa F.A.R.M. Social (Forever A Relaxed Mood), a 500-square-meter facility with steam rooms, saunas, salt pools, hydrotherapy pools, dry hammam, and jacuzzi. Activities available to guests will include horse riding across vineyards, truffle hunting with local experts, olive oil harvesting during the season, mountain biking, sunrise yoga, padel courts, and access to a gym. Families will have opportunities to connect with local farms and animals. Experiences are designed to reflect local traditions and encourage engagement with the landscape and community.
