Choice Hotels International reported record international growth and its strongest year for extended stay hotel openings in 2025, with key developments across multiple regions and segments.

Choice Hotels International announced its 2025 development results, highlighting a record 130 international hotels onboarded and significant growth across its extended stay, upscale, and core brands. The company expanded its international portfolio to nearly 160,000 rooms outside the United States, a 13% increase over the past year.

Domestically, Choice Hotels opened 66 extended stay hotels in 2025, marking its strongest performance in this segment. The WoodSpring Suites brand opened 28 new hotels, and Everhome Suites reached its 25th opening with a property in Somerset, New York. Across its four extended stay brands, the company signed 93 franchise agreements, including 50 for WoodSpring Suites.

Internationally, Choice Hotels acquired the remaining 50% stake in the Choice Hotels Canada joint venture and announced a multi-unit agreement for six new Ascend Collection properties in Québec. In Europe, the company opened 15 Comfort hotels in France during the first half of 2025 and signed a 50-unit Quality Suites agreement, nearly doubling its presence in the country. Choice Hotels also entered Poland with an Ascend Collection property and a master development agreement.

In Australia, the company introduced the MainStay Suites brand with seven properties. In Asia, Choice Hotels signed a 70-unit distribution agreement and an exclusive master franchise agreement with SSAW in China, with plans to open more than 100 Comfort and Quality hotels over the next four years.

The company expanded its Radisson portfolio in Latin America, entering Argentina with a Radisson Blu in Bariloche and signing a Radisson Red near Rosario. Additional developments included entry into Suriname with a Radisson hotel, renewal of its partnership with Atlantica in Brazil, and eight Radisson-brand openings across the CALA region and Canada.

In Africa, Choice Hotels secured agreements for three hotels in Kenya and established a master development framework to support future expansion across sub-Saharan Africa.

In the upscale segment, the company opened 27 domestic hotels under the Ascend Collection, Cambria Hotels, and Radisson brands, including properties in Templeton, California, and Northlake, Texas. The domestic upscale pipeline grew to 133 hotels, with projected openings expected to increase in 2026.

Choice Hotels’ core brands awarded 247 U.S. franchise agreements, with Country Inn & Suites awarding 50% more agreements compared to 2024 and Quality Inn awarding 57 agreements. Growth continued across Comfort, Sleep Inn, and Econo Lodge, with ongoing conversion activity. The company also advanced initiatives, including refreshed brand identities for Comfort and Country Inn & Suites, and the rollout of a new coffee experience across more than 2,000 hotels, expected by mid-2026.
