Chrissie Hynde is back with new music and her upcoming album, Chrissie Hynde & Pals – Duets Special, will feature collaborations with 13 music legends.
Hynde, 73, took to Instagram on Wednesday, August 13, to announce the exciting new project. “We’re pleased to announce the new album ‘Chrissie Hynde & Pals – Duets Special’, 13 extraordinary duets, beautifully arranged and featuring a host of world-class collaborators,” the Pretenders lead vocalist wrote alongside a photo of the album’s cover art. “Releasing 17th October 2025, pre-order now on Vinyl & CD through the link in bio.”
While Hynde noted that there will not be a “Pretenders album coming out this year,” she insisted that Duets will fill a void. “Me singing with some old pals. I know that doesn’t sound very exciting, until you consider who some of my old pals are,” she wrote before listing who some of the album’s collaborators are.
Hynde is in good company, as she will sing duets with several music legends including the Killers’ Brandon Flowers, Cat Power, Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan, Blondie’s Debbie Harry, Low’s Alan Sparhawk, Garbage’s Shirley Manson, Lucinda Williams, the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, the late Mark Lanegan, Julian Lennon, Rufus Wainwright, K.D. Lang and Carleen Anderson.
Alongside her guests, Hynde will sing covers of songs by Elvis Presley, Morrissey, Low, 10cc, the Righteous Brothers, Billy Paul and Brenda Holloway. The album even includes a cover of the Beatles’ song “It’s Only Love” with John Lennon’s son Julian, 62.

“That album will come out October 17th. It will be called: Chrissie Hynde & Pals. Not the most original title, but some of the most original voices in rock music,” Hynde continued in the caption. “Listen to ‘Always On My Mind with @rufuswainwright’ now available on streaming.”
Shortly after Hynde announced the project, several fans rushed to the comments section to express their excitement. “Can’t wait to hear you singing with Debbie Harry. You two are the coolest women on the planet!” one person commented, and another added, “Very cool. Can’t wait to hear it.”
